The lobby bar (the fridge in the reception) is open to residents at least until 02:00.
The Saturday programme begins with an excursion to Stallhagen Microbrewery. The bus leaves Adlon at 10:00 AM and returns again at 13:00.
The excursion consists of a guided tour of the brewery, and a tasting of the brewery’s flagship beers together with a platter of local delicacies. To sign up, read more on the excursion page.
Our offer for cheaper hotel rooms expires on April 5. After that day, our reserved block of rooms will also be released to the public, for anyone to book. In other words, if you haven’t already done so, follow the instructions on the Hotel information page and reserve your room now!
The Membership page has been updated with information about membership transfers; what to do if you want to transfer your membership to someone if you cannot attend the convention, and what to do if you would like to buy a membership from someone who wants to sell theirs.
After a record-breaking day — we started out with twenty-eight memberships still for sale — we have now sold all the one-hundred available memberships. For those of you who see this notice too late, don’t despair quite yet — we shall try to set up some sort of system eventually where you can queue up to buy any memberships that current members who discover they cannot attend might want to sell.
As you know, the convention venue is very limited in size so Åcon has always had a membership cap of 100 members. Currently we only have 7 memberships left to sell. We have sold 21 memberships today and expect to sell the remaining very soon, perhaps today already. The demand for memberships has been much higher than in previous years, for a number of reasons.
Åcon 8 is now opening hotel bookings. You will find instructions for how to reserve a bed on the Hotel info page. We have negotiated with the hotel and can offer the same rates as last year. The hotel will want your contact details and credit card number as a guarantee of the reservation. You will not have to pay until you get to the convention.
Go ahead and secure your bed right now, for a weekend with discussions of science fiction and fantasy with Zen Cho and all the other Åcon 8 members!
